Cheers to the New Year

Happy New Year!!! I can’t believe it’s already 2019, it feels like I just graduated high school yesterday! 2019 will be full of a lot of changes for me. I will graduate with my bachelors degree and begin my Masters in Occupational Therapy. I will also move to a different location and be buying my first apartment! Lots of exciting things in store for the new year!

I wanted to share some of my main goals for the upcoming year:

Here is a picture of on my school’s trip to London, this was a huge step out of my comfort zone for me. I started off not knowing anyone and ended up meeting 13 new people!

1) Try new things This has been a goal that I am constantly working on every year. The past 4 years I have tried many new things and I am so proud of myself for that! I want to continue with this goal and go even further. Here is a great article from Wanderlust that inspired me to move outside my comfort zone!

2) Eat more veggies I’ll be honest now, I was never the biggest vegetable fan ever. So my goal for the new year is to try really hard to get at least one vegetable with every meal. I have always been a picky eater so trying new foods was never my thing. But I am determined to try some new vegetables even if it is covered in butter.

3) Use my phone less With the new Screen Time feature on the Iphones, it has made me realise how much time I am spending on my phone when I could be doing other things. My goal for this year is to use my phone, social media, and computer less. The world has become so revolved around technology, it is consuming people. Instead of playing on my phone before I fall asleep at night, I will read for 20-30 minutes instead.

4) Self-care Over the past year I have discovered the importance of taking care and time for yourself. Taking time in the day to recharge and relax is something I need in order to function. Some of my favourite ways are diffusing essential oils, using my salt lamp, doing a facial, spending some time in the studio and watching some Sex and the City. Here is a cute “Self Care Menu” I found on Pinterest!

Off to the Races

One of my favorite places to go in the summer is the racetrack. Every summer my friends and I take our annual trip to Saratoga, NY to watch the horse races. It’s fun to relax and spend a fun day with good friends!

My favorite part of going to the races is dressing up of course! My dress is from Lauren James, I have it in sea foam green! It’s one of my all time favorite dresses! She makes perfect dresses for the races. My friend V on the right is wearing a Lauren James dress as well. You can find it here!

I also am wearing a sun hat that I got at target and added my own ribbon for a special touch! My shoes are from Marshalls, not sure of the brand tho! And my pearl necklace, and as Jackie Kennedy would say “pearls are always appropriate!”

We did bet a little money for fun but only 2 of us actually won something. Sadly, it was not me. My horse came in last place:(, that’s what happens when I pick the pink one lol.

We’ve been going to the races for the past 3 years, and it’s such a fun tradition. I look forward to it every summer! The Saratoga race track opened in 1863 and is open for the summer with racing 6 days a week. There is many other fun things to do in Saratoga as well. I used to come up here quite often when I was younger for ballet auditions and we would always stop at the Cold Stone and Alex and Ani store on our way home! They also have many shops and delicious restaurants. They have a Lilly store so you know thats’s always on the list!

Here are some of my favorite restaurants!

Wheatfields I always get the Pesto Radiatori, so yummy!

Chianti Ristorante I love the Capellini Alla Checca!

Brueggars You can never go wrong with a bagel!

Here’s a look at some of the past years outfit looks!

My first year at the races, I wore this long, blue Lilly Pulitzer dress! They don’t have the exact same color but they have some that are pretty close! Love this dress! It is so versatile, you can wear it to school, grad parties, or even just running errands!

Year two I decided to take a little different route with my dress choice. I’m wearing a black Calvin Klein dress! Finally got the memo, and bought a black sun hat to match. And of course my pearl necklace to tie the look together!

Finally back with to Lilly again this year. I’m wearing a green Lilly Pulitzer shift dress! This isn’t the exact one I’m wearing but this is the same style! I love this dress, the cut is perfect! Also, can’t forget the obligatory hat and pearls to make the outfit complete!

My friend V on the left is also wearing a Lilly Pulitzer, this is the closest one I can find! And my friend Steph on the right is wearing a Lauren James dress. Here is a similar one!

Cheers friends xoxo
